NDIS Interpret and Translate

Some Australians with disabilities come from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and struggle to communicate successfully with providers on their own. These persons are now eligible for NDIS-funded interpreting and translation services, which are provided in collaboration with the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National). The goal is to ensure that information on NDIS services is clearly comprehended by all participants, regardless of background.

The Department of Home Affairs administers TIS National, which provides translating services to Australians who prefer to converse in their native language. Its services are also available to businesses that work with people who communicate in another language. The Interpret and Translate registration group supports three types of interpreting services:

  • Immediate phone interpreting
  • Pre-booked phone interpreting
  • On-site interpreting
